OUR DOCTORS:
Dr. Tom Buechler graduated from the IU School of Optometry in 1982 and has practiced in Jasper since 1988. In 2006 he merged his practice with Dr. Otte and Clay Street EyeCare was formed to better serve our patients.
Dr. Buechler lives in Jasper with his wife Julie and two daughters, Anjuli and Aimee. He enjoys outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking and flyfishing.
Dr. Buechler says "I greatly enjoy the relationships that develop over the years in caring for my patients' eyecare needs".
Dr. Kalyn Kordes grew up in Ferdinand, IN and graduated from Forest Park Junior-Senior High School in 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Indiana University in 2016 and her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry in May of 2020.
In her time outside of the office, Dr. Kordes enjoys playing sand volleyball, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. She continues to reside in Ferdinand with her husband, Lynk, and daughter, Florence. They are expecting another daughter in July of 2026.
Dr. Kordes has a special interest in ocular disease as well as providing general comprehensive eye exams for all ages, including infants and toddlers. She looks forward to providing eye care to you and your family for years to come.
Grace was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University before going on to receive her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages—from infants to seniors!
Grace and her fiancé, Joey, will be getting married in August 2026 and are looking forward to exploring Italy for their honeymoon!
Outside of work, Grace enjoys taking her chocolate lab, Bear, on long walks, spending time with friends and family, cheering on the Hoosiers, trying new dessert recipes, and boating during the summer months!
OUR STAFF:
Jeanne works in our business office. She started working for Dr. Otte in 1996 and then came to Clay Street EyeCare in 2006. At CSE we do accept most insurance and will file these for you. If you have questions about your vision insurance call our office and ask for Jeanne. Jeanne and her husband, Bobby, have one daughter, Valerie. Jeanne loves to travel and spend time with her family.
Melanie began her career in the optical field in March of 1997 working for Dr. Otte. She has worked for Clay Street EyeCare since the practices merged in August of 2006. She enjoys assisting patients with frame selections, adjustments, and repairs. She and her husband, Greg, have 2 children. She enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her friends and family.
Krista started working for Clay Street EyeCare in 2016. She will either greet you at the front desk or you will be able to find her in the lab. Krista enjoys interacting with the patients while they are in the office as well as scheduling appointments and assisting with frame selections and repairs. She and her husband, Matt, have two children and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Lisa started working at Clay Street EyeCare in 2007. She graduated in 2008 from Indiana University with a degree in optometric technology and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry. Lisa enjoys assisting patients with frame selections, adjustments, and repairs. Lisa and her husband Brad have two children, Corbin and Layla. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and cheering for IU!
Courtney started working for Clay Street EyeCare in May of 2021. She enjoys helping patients make appointments and pick out glasses. You can find her at the front desk or in the lab. Courtney and her 2 kids, Camila and Carson, live in Jasper. They enjoy playing sports, spending time with family & hanging out with their 2 doggies, Tank & Tyga.
Barb started working at Clay Street EyeCare in April of 2023. She enjoys working at the front desk and interacting with the patients. Barb & her husband, Wayne, have 2 daughters, Emily & Amanda. She enjoys reading and traveling with family & friends.
Mindy joined Clay Street EyeCare in October of 2025. She enjoys greeting & interacting with patients. Mindy & her husband, Jason, have 5 kids, Jacob, Isaac (Sadez), Jasmin, Eli & Levi. She enjoys all things family, especially games, sports, nature & reading.
